Ethiopia "Basha Bekele" Anaerobic Natural 74158 - Hydrangea
Now holding his own export license, Basha grows coffee, primarily the local 74158 variety known as Walega, across 12 hectares of semi-forested land, while also operating collection sites in Bombe, Shantawane, and Kokose, sourcing cherry from producers up to 2.300 masl. Even in a year of high cherry prices, he stood out by paying a second premium to the 126 producers he worked with once the coffee sold.
Like many in Bensa, Basha focuses exclusively on dry processes, including anaerobic fermentations, floating cherries before slowly drying them on raised beds.
Expect a complex cup with notes of sweet cantaloupe, juicy passionfruit, and sweet blueberries.
