Bekele’s small farm, Denbi, spans just 3.9 hectares and sits at an impressive 2,350 masl, where cool temperatures slow cherry maturation produce dense, sweet, and complex beans. The coffee grows under native shade trees like Birbira, Wanza, and Acacia, with Bekele and his family practicing organic, hands-on farming. With no access to electricity or running water, Bekele and over 75 neighboring farmers rely on natural methods and traditional tools to cultivate exceptional, low-impact coffees.
