The grinder you
stop upgrading from.
Built for those who take coffee as seriously as we do.
Why Weber Workshops EG-1 became one of the world’s most respected grinders.
Built around one thing: better extractions.
Whether you brew espresso or filter, the grinder sets the limits for what the coffee can become. Grind consistency affects sweetness, clarity, texture, acidity, finish and extraction balance.
The EG-1 is built to control those variables with unusual precision. Burr geometry, alignment, variable RPM and low retention work together to create a cleaner, more repeatable grind.
With high-quality and light roasted coffees, that difference becomes especially clear. Espresso becomes easier to balance. Filter coffee becomes more transparent.
Choose the burrs that match how you want the coffee to taste.
For clarity, separation and modern light roasts.
Designed around 80 mm flat burr geometry for extremely low fines production and a more transparent expression of the coffee.
What it does
Creates cleaner cups with more flavor separation, clearer acidity and less muddiness.
Best for
Light roasted pour-over coffee, competition coffees and delicate origins.
In the cup
More transparency, more definition, longer finish and a cleaner expression of the coffee itself.
For body, structure and espresso.
A more traditional 80 mm flat burr style for people who want more texture, density and tactile weight.
What it does
Creates a fuller cup with more body, more density and a stronger espresso structure.
Best for
Pour-over coffee and espresso-focused brewing.
In the cup
More richness, more mouthfeel and a heavier, more concentrated espresso expression.
Speed changes how the coffee breaks apart.
Most grinders use a fixed RPM to grind the coffee, often being built to grind faster rather than better. The Weber Workshops EG-1 gives you another way to shape extraction before water ever touches the coffee: through variable RPM.
Lower RPM can make it easier to achieve sweet, high-clarity espresso extractions from light roasted coffees without pushing bitterness or harsh acidity.
For both espresso and filter coffee, RPM becomes another way to fine-tune clarity, sweetness, texture and finish in the cup.
Built to outlast the upgrade cycle.
Most coffee grinders are designed like products. The Weber Workshops EG-1 feels engineered like a long-term instrument.
The tolerances feel tighter. The adjustment is more exact. The alignment is more stable.
Nothing feels loose. Nothing feels compromised. Nothing feels disposable.
Over time, that changes your relationship with the grinder itself. You stop thinking about replacing it and focus entirely on extraction, flavor and dialing in the coffee.
While designed primarily for serious home brewers, the EG-1 is also trusted in cafés and competition environments where consistency matters at the highest level.
Precision should not be difficult to live with.
Serious home brewers clean grinders. They check burrs, dial in different coffees and care about retention and alignment. The problem is that many high-end grinders make those things unnecessarily frustrating.
The EG-1 is designed differently. Burr access feels straightforward. Cleaning feels intentional. The grinder feels like it was built by people who actually use grinders every day.
Easy burr access
Designed to make cleaning and maintenance feel approachable instead of intimidating.
Low retention
Helps keep coffees cleaner, fresher and more repeatable between brews.
Built for coffee rotation
Ideal for people who regularly switch between coffees and brew methods.
Designed for long-term use
Built to feel maintainable and mechanically stable over years of ownership.
- '' I’ve been using the EG-1 daily for nearly two years now, both behind the bar and for competitions. I’m amazed by how I could suddenly pull espresso shots with super-light-roasted Kenyan coffees using a tight ratio of 2:1 and still get a clean aftertaste and syrupy texture.
The EG-1 has changed the game for me. The pour-overs have become noticeably sweeter and cleaner, with higher clarity than before.''
- ''It’s been super nice. The clarity that I get on the EG-1 is insane.
Some of the aromas that I never would have gotten in other grinders, I can get on this. The texture on espresso is also super smooth and syrupy.''
Is the EG-1 for you?
EG-1 is for you if...
EG-1 might be overkill if...
What actually changes in the cup?
Cleaner shots. More usable range.
More clarity. More separation.
Why the EG-1 comes with a blind shaker.
The blind shaker helps break up clumps and reduce static electricity before tamping, creating a more even puck preparation.
This helps water move more evenly through the coffee during extraction, reducing channeling and improving clarity, sweetness and consistency in the cup.
FAQ
Here you'll find the answers to the most frequent questions about the EG-1
How long does it take to get the grinder?
The lead times for the Weber Workshops EG-1 is 4-6 weeks from order coinfirmation.
Why does the EG-1 cost more than traditional grinders?
The EG-1 is not mass-produced and is built very differently than traditional grinders.
It combines precision-machined components, large flat burrs, variable RPM control, magnetic burr alignment, near-zero retention design, and exceptionally tight manufacturing tolerances, all engineered around one thing: producing better and more consistent extractions.
But beyond the engineering itself, much of the value comes from the cup quality and long-term experience of using the grinder daily.
The EG-1 is designed for coffee enthusiasts and professionals who want a grinder capable of delivering the highest-level espresso and filter coffee for many years to come.
Is the EG-1 suitable for batch brew?
The EG-1 is a single-dose grinder which means that it's not suitable for batch brew for high-volume cafés.
However, for smaller amounts of batch brews made at home using less than 60g of coffee, a practical solution is to grind the coffee in two rounds to get the desired amount of coffee for the batch brew.
How does the EG-1 compare to the EK43?
The EK43 became legendary in specialty coffee for a reason. Its grind quality helped shape modern high-extraction brewing and it’s still capable of producing incredible cups.
That said, the EG-1 feels significantly more refined as a daily grinder, especially for home use and modern espresso.
One challenge we’ve personally experienced with many EK43s is consistency between units. Burr alignment can vary quite a lot, and for espresso, we’ve often found that perfectly aligned burrs are almost mandatory. On poorly aligned EKs, the burrs can nearly touch while still struggling to grind fine enough for properly dialed espresso.
The EG-1 addresses many of these issues with a much more precise and user-friendly platform. The magnetically aligned burr system helps improve consistency and alignment stability, while the grind adjustment itself feels significantly more refined and repeatable.
The overall experience is also very different day-to-day:
- The EG-1 is quieter
- Easier to clean
- Easier to disassemble
- Lower retention
- Smaller footprint
- Better suited for espresso workflows
Taking apart an EK43 for deep cleaning can be quite involved and physically heavy, while the EG-1 was clearly designed with regular maintenance in mind.
The EK43 still remains an iconic grinder, especially for filter coffee, but many enthusiasts and competition baristas today prefer the EG-1 because it combines exceptional grind quality with a much more refined user experience.
What's the difference between the Core and Ultra burrs?
The Core burrs produce a more balanced and rounded profile with greater body and sweetness, especially in espresso.
The Ultra burrs prioritize clarity, separation, and transparency in the cup. They are often preferred by competition brewers and people brewing very light-roasted coffees for filter.
Neither is objectively “better” — it depends on the style of coffee you enjoy.
Is the EG-1 made for pour-over coffee?
The EG-1 isn't designed for one single brew method. You can grind for a wide range of brew methods ranging from Turkish/Cezcve/Ibrik, to Espresso, Aerorpress, pour-over, french press and cold brew.
How big are the burrs for the EG-1?
The burrs are 80mm in size.
What is RPM?
RPM is short for '' revolutions per minute''. A variable RPM means that the speed of the grinder can be adjusted, on the EG-1 from 500 RPM up to 1600 RPM.
The lower the RPM, the slower the grinding becomes, but with the benefit that less heat and less fines are produced, providing more clarity and structure to the cup.
A higher RPM results in a faster grind, but with more heat produced and higher amount of fines produced. This can be benefitial for those who favor more body in their espressos.
Does the EG-1 one have variable RPM?
Yes. The Weber Workshops EG-1 has variable RPM, ranging from 500 RPM to 1600 RPM.
Is the EG-1 made for café-environments?
EG-1 is a single dose grinder which can easily be implemented into the daily workflow of any café.
However, for cafés with very high volume, we recommend using a hopper-based grinder for the main espresso, and the EG-1 for rare-espresso options, Aeropress and pour-overs.
Do you ship overseas?
No, we ship within Europe and Scandinaiva only.
Can I grind for all brew methods with the EG-1?
Yes. With the Weber Workshops EG-1, you can grind coffee for all brew methods, ranging from brew methods such as Turkish/Ceszve/Ibrik, to espresso, Aeropress, pour-over, batch-brew, French-press and cold brew.
Is the EG-1 made for espresso?
Weber Workshops EG-1 is suitable for a wide range of brew methods, espresso being one of them.
The 80mm burrs flat burrs, in combination with variable RPM gives an unmatched possibility to shape your espresso based on your preferences: Low RPM for high clarity and structure, higher RPM-settings for texture and weight.
However, for Ultra-burr users we don't recommend brewing espresso, as they produce such a small amount of fines that it becomes unsuitable for espresso.
