Volcán Azul, managed by Alejo Castro Kahle, sits on the volcanic slopes of Poás in Costa Rica’s Central Valley, where high elevations and rich soils support both exceptional quality and ongoing innovation.
This lot is Green Tip Geisha, a variety celebrated for its aromatic intensity and clarity, expressing classic floral and citrus characteristics. Processed as a cold washed lot, the coffee is carefully handled before drying for 25 days on raised beds followed by 3 days in guardiolas to stabilize and refine the profile.
POMA's impact: POMA's collaboration with Volcán Azul focuses on long-term research and experimentation, particularly in foliar nutrition and climate resilience, working closely with Alejo and his team to adapt and elevate quality for the future.
Expect a beautiful harmony of the varieties distinct aromas of jasmine flower, grapefruit and apricot, accompanied by a coating mouthfeel and a lingering sweet aftertaste.
Tasting Notes: Jasmine | Grapefruit | Apricot
