Ethiopia "Chelbesa Danche" Washed Local Landraces - Daturra
Feature Roaster: Daturra
At 2,000–2,300 masl in Gedeb, Danche Washing Station works with around 800 smallholder farmers cultivating coffee on small plots across the highlands of Gedeo. Acquired by SNAP Specialty Coffee in 2019, the station is known for its precise processing and clean washed coffees. This lot is composed mainly of Dega, Kurume, and Wolisho alongside other local Ethiopian landraces, reflecting the diversity of varieties grown throughout the region.
After harvesting, the cherries rest in the shade for 45–60 hours before being washed to remove the mucilage. The parchment is then spread on raised beds and dried for 7–10 days, with careful control of sun exposure throughout the day.
Expect a clean and floral cup with notes of juicy tangerine, sweet nectarine, fragrant jasmine and delicate earl grey.
