Ethiopia "Cherry Ascension" Carbonic Macerated Natural Wild Guji Megadu - Scenery
International Feature Roaster: Scenery
Founded by Hester and Dawit in Ethiopia's Guji highlands, Bette Buna was created with a simple ambition: to improve quality, sustainability, and livelihoods through community-led coffee production. Alongside operating their own farms, they invest heavily in local agronomy, shade tree planting, and education programs, helping build resilience for both producers and the landscape.
The coffee undergoes a 96-hour carbonic maceration, with ripe cherries sealed in hermetic barrels and flushed with CO₂ to create an oxygen-free environment. Afterwards, the cherries are dried on raised beds with controlled shade before being carefully milled, density- and optical-sorted, and hand-checked.
Expect a complex and full cup with a syrupy texture and slightly boozy notes of crème de cerise, blueberry jam, tinned pineapple, and lavender florals.
