Uganda "Kyabwire" Natural SL28 - Swerl
Feature Roaster: Swerl
This expressive SL28 comes from 11 smallholder farmers in Kyabwire, in Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains, where their coffee gardens sit at 1,700–1,900 masl. Brought together through the Empaako Collective, these small farms gain access to specialty markets that would otherwise be difficult to reach.
The coffee undergoes an extended natural process, beginning with three rounds of flotation and sorting before 48–72 hours of sealed fermentation. After an initial drying stage, the cherries undergo a second 120-hour fermentation in darkness to increase sweetness and fruit complexity. They are then dried slowly on raised beds for a further 15–20 days, until reaching around 10% moisture.
Expect a juicy and fruit forward cup, tasting like wild strawberries, sweet tropical fruits and a syrupy texture.
