Burundi "Muntana Hill" Washed Red Bourbon - Subtext Coffee
International Feature Roaster: Subtext Coffee
Mutana’s vast hills approach the edge of the Kibira Forest, which allows mist to fall from the forest and tumble onto farmers’ fields daily. With its mix of silty and sandy soils, Mutana can grow everything people like to eat right alongside coffee. This Private Auction washed lot was processed at Heza Washing Station, which sits at 1,960 masl and proccesses coffee for a number of hills in addition to Mutana. Heza is the second washing station built by Long Miles, and has been in operation since 2014.
Expect bright lime, juicy mulberry, and elegant floral notes in every cup. The profile is clean and sweet, showcasing the high-altitude terroir and careful processing unique to Burundi’s celebrated washing stations.
